News from the Suffolk Mantle of the Expert Forum

The Suffolk Mantle of the Expert Forum for 2010 will start with an introductory day at Ufford Park, near Woodbridge, with Julia Walshaw on Tuesday 9th March. The package of training will also include INSET days with Luke Abbott, in-school lesson observations and a visit to Bealings School. The Forum is open to any schools in Suffolk.

News on Masters Degree in Mantle of the Expert

In collaboration with Bishop Grosseteste University College Lincoln, mantleoftheexpert.com has created a course for experienced practising teachers to study mantle of the expert to Masters Level. Titled: ‘MA Degree route to dramatic arts inquiry pedagogy (also known as Mantle of the Expert)’ the course will be directed and lead by Luke Abbott supported by a team of highly trained practising tutors and skilled users of mantle of the expert.

Residential Training on Mantle of the Expert

Throughout the year we organise and run weekend residential training courses in mantle of the expert at Ringsfield Hall in Suffolk. These course are ideal for both newcomers and experienced users. Running from Friday night until Sunday lunchtime, they contain a series of practical workshops that explore all the fundamental skills of drama, planning and teaching needed to teach MoE successfully in the classroom.

Building on the success of the Cambridgeshire LA The Mantle of the Expert curriculum development project, CAS is now able to offer a CPD package that will support the development of the approach in your school.

Cambridgeshire Mantle of the Expert Project Evaluation

In this report Cambridgeshire LA Project Manager Chris Hiscock (General Adviser – Music, Cambridgeshire Advisory Service) describes a major mantle of the expert project involving sixteen schools from the county, thirteen primary and three secondary. The project was fully funded by the local authority and conducted over two terms, Autumn 2008 and Spring 2009. The report will be of interest to school and LA managers who are exploring innovative ways to develop creative learning experiences in line with the Rose Review and the 2008 Secondary National Curriculum.
